There is so much written about keywords and the importance of choosing the right ones. It depends on your belief and strategy but there are a number of free and paid keyword research tools available to help you.
Keyword research includes finding a list keywords in your niche or related to your product, finding traffic and competition data on keywords along with other data, finding competitor keyword data, finding LSI keywords and much more. Here are some tools that will help you with that.

Keyword Spy – This is limited but is definitely useful if you are not ready to invest. Just use the search at the top.
SEOBook Keyword Tool – Just sign up for a free account
Traffic Travis Free – This is a fantastic free tool
Nichbot Classic – this is a really cool tool. You can get top 50 results from Google with search volumes also from Yahoo & MSN, Top 50 Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery, Wordtracker Thesaurus and a whole lot of other stuff.
Market Samurai Free Trial – Full version – 7 Day trial. I LOVE the full version and it is more than a keyword tool. It has amazing training, is amazing whether you are SEO or PPC, has SEO Competition, find and publish content, a monetization module, find high quality backlinks… Get It!!!
GoRank – Helps find related keywords, a bit like a thesaurus
Paid Keyword Research Tools
Market Samurai – Has a 7 day FREE trial of the Full version. It has targeted features for Adwords or SEO and the amount of analysis available is invaluable. On top of the keywords research tool and analysis, it also has a SEO Competition function to further analyse whether you can compete for the top 10 by Spying on the top rankings DETAILED backlinks. Add to that the Adwords tool, Monetization section, Content section plus cutting edge ‘Dojo’ training videos.
Wordtracker – Has a 7 day FREE trial. Wordtracker is one of the top keyword research tools that the majority of successful marketers use. It can give you thousands of targeted keywords that Google’s free tool will never give you and also scores the keyword with “KEI”… the higher the KEI the easier the keyword is to rank for. StomperNet – This is the ultimate internet marketing training and you get so many top tools included, including Market Samurai and has full training on keywords using Market Samurai.

Keyword Elite – Brad Callen is amazing and whilst i do not use Keyword Elite 2.0 I have done research and discovered the training that comes with the product is premium.
For PPC
I am yet to find a current top Ultimate PPC keyword training course or module within a course… that is currently available. I will update when I find one.
